Jacqui Morrish – Green Party Parliamentary Candidate Ludlow Constituency
I have been a supporter of Friends of the Earth for many years and for the past five years an active member of the Green Party. In 2006 I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Studies with the Open University.
The Green Party is about social and environmental justice, which means creating a more equal society that fairly distributes and uses more efficiently diminishing natural resources, without destroying the environment. Re-evaluating our needs over our wants, with an eye to the needs of the future.
Of equal importance is our respect for other species for their own intrinsic value and not just for our use. This entails protecting habitats and ecosystems to strengthen biodiversity.

Hello Jacqui and Diane,
I am a supporter of the UK Chagos Association and I am lobbying all my (respectable) candidates on their behalf.
You probably know the shameful story behind the enforced exile of the Chagossian islanders in order to allow the USA to build a military base. It is appalling that Britain, a country which purports to be a champion of democracy and human rights, has behaved and continues to behave in such a cruel and heartless fashion.
I don’t know what the Green Party’s position on this issue is, but I would hope that any decent candidate, on learning the facts, would immediately pledge their support.
So, Jacqui, I am asking you the following simple question. Will you now commit yourself, should you be elected, unequivocally to support the Chagos islanders’ right of return during the next Parliament?
I very much hope that your answer will be “yes”.
Best wishes,
Mick
My answer is yes.
